Gluten-free, low in starch and sugar, and high in energy density.
Ideal for gently putting weight on horses that struggle to maintain condition and for sport horses with high energy requirements.
Suitable for horses with muscle issues, digestive disorders, and sensitive stomachs.
Energy balancer free from conventional cereal starch
RiceLein is a low-glycemic energy supplement designed to enrich low-energy rations.
Instead of starch sources, easily fermentable fibers and rice bran provide readily available energy. Thanks to the gastroprotective properties of flaxseed, it is particularly suitable for horses with sensitive digestive systems.
Due to its low starch and sugar content, it can also be fed to horses with muscle disorders—such as PSSM, MIM,
exertional myositis, and azoturia—or horses with PPID (Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction, formerly known as equine Cushing’s syndrome).
As RiceLein is not mineral-fortified, it can be combined with any base feed.

ENERGY SOURCE FOR SPECIAL NEEDS
There are situations where horses require a diet low in starch and sugar.
These include not only grain intolerances, a tendency toward hyperacidity, and stomach issues, but also metabolic and muscular problems that can be triggered or aggravated by consuming rations too rich in starch.
These conditions include Polysaccharide Storage Myopathy (PSSM) and various forms of Myofibrillar Myopathy (MIM, also known as "PSSM2"). PSSM and MIM are muscle metabolism disorders caused by genetic defects.
Affected horses exhibit clinical symptoms similar to exertional myositis. Symptoms range from recurring gait irregularities (with no underlying orthopedic issue) to muscle tremors, reluctance to move, muscle stiffness, sweating, and even complete immobility.
Horses affected by PSSM or MIM absolutely require appropriate feeding and management; otherwise, they may be only partially rideable or not rideable at all. Dietary modification is particularly important, as a low-starch, low-sugar diet is recommended.
A combination of fermentable fibers, oilseeds, and cereal germ provides an optimal supplement to the hay ration.
A low-starch, low-sugar diet is also recommended for horses with gastrointestinal issues to protect their digestive system.

IDEAL FOR HORSES UNDERGOING INTENSE TRAINING.
Healthy horses requiring an additional energy source during periods of intense training benefit from RiceLein, which gives their metabolism a gentle boost.
This is especially true for sport horses with high performance demands; In these cases, the level of training determines the additional energy requirement.
Horses that are difficult to feed and underweight horses can be gradually brought back to condition by supplementing their usual ration with RiceLein.
Thanks to its palatable and easily digestible ingredients, it is particularly suitable for thin, older horses that require an additional low-starch energy source due to metabolic disorders such as PPID.
