A beautiful coat – more than just a coincidence

When the German stud Hesta Borg started to feed its Icelandic horses a breed-specific feed in 1998 and showed success, the general mindset in regards to the influence of nutrition on equine health changed. Diet-related problems such as eczema, immune disorders, itching up to mental disorders were successfully solved by adding the corresponding trace elements. This feed formula, started as a trial for a special horse breed, proved to be one of the most successful feeds for all breeds of horses with diet-related problems, and it was subsequently named: Hesta Mix.

The many faces of deficiency symptoms

These days, many horses’ energy needs can be more than adequately met by feeding them very small concentrate feed rations. However, these small feed rations frequently lack essential vital nutrients and micronutrients. Conventional mineral supplements often fail to meet the real nutritional needs of the horses. The result are deficiency symptoms that express themselves in nervousness, restlessness, signs of wear and tear and digestive problems, susceptibility to infections, skin problems, allergies and loss of weight or endocrine disorders.

Solving problems

Hesta Mix has proven itself in particular with special or baroque breeds, especially if these horses have to cope with nutritional deficiencies. But also typical warmblood horses, thoroughbreds or cold bloods benefit from the high nutrient content.

Particularly high in trace element content

Hesta Mix is rich in vital nutrients and has a high content in biologically available micronutrients. This guarantees an adequate and proper supply of organic trace elements even when fed in small quantities. Deficiency symptoms are reliably resolved or even prevented thanks to the easy absorption in the intestine and the rapid transport to the relevant target organ. Especially the change of coat draws from the existing trace element reserves, and even in this situation, Hesta Mix provides the best possible supply.

Mainly regularly worked horses with a certain requirement for component feed are fed the tasty “Hesta Mix Muesli”. These are in most cases good keepers and/or larger breeds like Andalusians, Lusitanos, draught horses, Pintos, Arabs, Tinker or Friesian horses.

Composition of the “Muesli Hesta Mix”: Barley Flakes (Lacto-Fermented), Corn Flakes (Lacto-Fermented), PalaSyrup (Fused Isomaltulose), Chopped Alfalfa, Chopped Hot Air-Dried Grass, Fruit Fiber (Apple/Grape), Wheat Bran, oat bran, finely cracked oilseeds and oil cakes (linseed, sunflower, fennel seed, black cumin seed) 3.2%, mixture of cold-pressed oils (linseed, sunflower, germ oil of corn) 2.4%, corn germ, calcium carbonate (maritime and mineral), beetroot fibre, aromatic herbs (peppermint, rosemary, thyme, coriander, nettle, chamomile, fenugreek seeds) 1.3% , brewer’s yeast, salt, barley germ, vinegar, garlic, rice germ, magnesium oxide/phosphate/sulphate, certified food-grade vegetable charcoal, carrots, pea flakes flour.
