If the mare and foal are well after birth and the foal finds its way to the milk source on shaky legs, 
the breeder is relieved and happy.
By providing the mare with the right nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding,
we can create the crucial foundation for the little hopeful to become a healthy sports and leisure companion.

NUTRITION FOR FERTILITY
Three months before the expected mating date,
the ration should have a high nutrient content but moderate energy value. 
Additional doses of St. Hippolyt ® Beta-Carotene Mare-Y-Mix, trace elements (MicroVital ®) and nucleotides (High Performer) improve the ability to conceive. 
After successful employment, care must be taken to provide a micronutrient-rich but energy-adequate diet.
At the beginning of the last third of pregnancy it is advisable to switch to Equilac ® broodmare feed.

Composition of "Equilac Muesli":
Barley flakes (fermented), corn flakes (fermented), turnip greens, fruit fibers (apple/grapes),
chopped alfalfa, oilseed mixture and finely chopped cake (linseed, sunflower seed, of black cumin, fennel seeds) 4%, 
corn germ, oat bran, whole oat flakes, hydrothermally digested soya flakes*, chopped grass dried in hot air, barley germ, 
aromatic herbs (peppermint , thyme, rosemary, nettle, chamomile, coriander) 2.3%, wheat bran, 
cold-pressed oil blend (linseed, sunflower, corn germ oil) 2%, beetroot fibre, calcium carbonate (maritime and mineral), 
brewer's yeast, sainfoin, rice bran, salt, magnesium phosphate/oxide, pea flake flour, carrots, vinegar
 malt yeast wort.

Application "Equilac Muesli"
As a supplement to the basic daily ration of feed with roughage and/or pasture grass, 
we recommend slowly replacing the previous amount of cradle feed with Equilac ® starting from the eighth month of pregnancy.

9-11 Month of pregnancy: approximately 400-500 g per 100 kg of body weight per day. 
This total quantity should be offered divided into several rations. For heavy or lightly fed horses, increase or decrease the ration by approximately 10-15%. 
If necessary, oats can also be administered. For special breeds, ponies and good feed converters, it is recommended to feed Equilac ® as a single feeder feed.

1st-3rd month of breastfeeding: increase Equilac ® up to 600 g per 100 kg of body weight per day, as the highest milk production is expected around the 2nd month of breastfeeding.

From the 5th month of breastfeeding: gradually reduce Equilac ®. When the foal is weaned, stop feeding the mare.
